Whilst there is poverty in the developing world, maybe the town twinning concept could be put to a better purpose. TwinTownAfrica's aims are:

• Notice Board - to give UK based projects such as school and town links, charity shops, aid agencies and social justice organisations a means of appealing for material or financial assistance.
  
  
• Communication – allows UK aid workers overseas an opportunity to place appeals in their home region for vitally needed goods.
  
  
• Coordination – if a school collects educational material to send to it's twin school, it could appeals for postage costs which could then be met by a local company, supermarket, etc
  
  
• Awareness – Promote school or church links and encourage new links
  
  
• Recycle – promote recycling to the benefit of the developing world.

Those involved in fighting poverty in the developing world can place appeals for second hand items – such as radios, puncture kits, textbooks, sports equipment, computers, sewing machines etc.

They can inform us of their projects and appeal for new goods, such as school uniforms and equipment, school stationary, etc, or they can appeal for funds, volunteers, airfare costs or fundraisers.

If you are connected with a UK based organisation and would like to appeal for funds or specific goods on this site – you can do so completely free of charge. It also contains useful information should your school wish to form a link with a third world school.
